Nassim was released by WinSoft with the launch of Tasmeem™4. In the process of this collaboration I was asked to design the Tasmeem 4 typefaces specimen. For this release, Nassim underwent major changes. The Arabic design was completely revised and updated to take advantage of the features of Tasmeem™. Moreover, Nassim now supports the complete Unicode block for the Arabic script, offering all features to the widest range of languages possible (including but not limited to Arabic, Persian, Urdu, Kurdish, Pashtu, Sindhi, Uyghur). This is groundbreaking for some of these languages are barely supported by most conventional Arabic typefaces.
The most important improvement of Nassim through its implementation in Tasmeem™ is the full reproduction of the dissimilation and assimilation patterns of the Arabic script. Letters that share similar in simplified typography are now distinct to increase legibility. Comparing the same word in it’s old OpenType version (small black below) to the new Nassim clearly illustrates the point.
